Alongside Edward Gibbon and David Hume, William Robertson was one of the great triumvirate of 18th-century British historians. This collection brings together all of his monumental works: his sympathetic and dramatic History of Scotland (featuring the reign of Mary, Queen of Scots), his sweeping European study The History of the Reign of the Emperor Charles V, his groundbreaking History of America (which includes the famous folding plate of Aztec pictorial writing), and his later disquisition on Ancient India.
