The Bible is bound in a handsome reddish-brown leather adorned with intricate geometric gilt tooling on both the boards and the spine.

Spine Details: The spine features five raised bands with brilliant gilt cross motifs in the compartments and the title "THE SELF-INTERPRETING BIBLE" stamped clearly in gold.

The interior covers feature beautifully preserved marbled paper in sweeping shades of orange, white, gray, and black. The text block features striking full gilt edges all around.

The scripture is laid out in a double-column format with extensive commentary, marginal notes, and references framing the text at the bottom and sides of the pages. The book is profusely illustrated with dramatic full-page engravings. Some sporadic light foxing throughout.

Genealogical Significance

Family Register: This volume contains a heavily populated, handwritten "Family Register" spanning well over a century.

Historical Entries: The earliest recorded entry is set inside an ornate illustrated border, documenting the beautifully scripted 1868 marriage of Peter Henderson and Jessie Craw in Ayr, Scotland.

Continued Lineage: The records actively trace the Henderson family lineage through births, marriages, and deaths across multiple pages, with handwritten entries logged as recently as 2002.
