This is the highly desirable "Salon Edition," strictly limited to 550 copies printed for England and America. This specific set is hand-numbered as copy No. 224. No publication date stated - Circa 1895.

The set is handsomely bound in fine dark half-morocco leather over contrasting blue cloth boards. The spines feature prominent raised bands, separated by richly gilt-tooled compartments showcasing elegant, stylized floral centerpieces. The bindings display excellent shelf presence with bright, crisp gilt lettering. Some light rubbing to leather extremities. Books measure 10"x6.75".
Pages are bright and clean, Beautifully illustrated with evocative plates and chapter vignettes by noted artists of the period, including J. Wagrez and Louis Titz. Hand-Color Frontisepieces.
