A very handsome set of Camden’s History of England, elaborately illustrated with some seventy full-page plates. The present copy is notable for its condition, being very well preserved in contemporary full marbled calf bindings. An imposing set which shows very well on the shelf.
Contemporary full marbled calf bindings, boards lined in triple-fillet gilt. Spines uniformly sunned, six raised bands separating compartments lined in double-fillets, original tooled black morocco labels laid down. All boards are attached and the bindings are secure, some light wear to joints. Bookplate of John Seale (Monmouth) in both volumes. Internally very fresh and bright, some stains in places, occasional marginal dampstaining, some plates offset to versos, sometimes with foxing, but in general, well preserved.
