1707 HUSBAND AND WIFE ORDERED TO APPEAR ON CHARGES OF "FORNICATION"
1707. Interesting A.D.S., 1p. 8vo., Dartmouth, July 15, 1707, a summons compelling a husband and wife to appear before the court on charges of fornication. In part: "Whereas Ebenezer Tabor and Abigail his wife stand presented (upon file) for Committing fornication... require you... to summon ye P. Ebenezer Tabor & Abigail his wife that they appear at An Adjournment of ye Court of Gen. Sessions of ye Peace... to answer unto ye Presentment & further to act and Do as thou shall be ordered by ye Court..." The summons is signed by a clerk at the conclusion, with a red wax stamp applied at top left. Shows original folds, docketed on the verso, else very good.. Item #459
