Thomas Lord Fairfax **SIGNED** Land Grant to Quaker John Fawcett
1765. No Binding. Thomas Lord Fairfax granting a certain tract of land in Frederick County, Virginia to Quaker John Fawcett dated July 7th, 1765. Document is in great condition with text nice and visible including Lord Fairfax signature in bottom right corner. Frame size measures 16.5"x14.5". A nice piece predating the American Revolution by ten years.

John Fawcett was born in 1716 in Ireland. His parents were Thomas Fawcett and Lydia Boyce.
In 1736 they immigrated to America and at first settled in Philadelphia.
He married Rebecca Ireson.

John Fawcett, Jr. (1749-1811),
Rachel Fawcett (1752, married George Redd),
Thomas Fawcett (1757).
About 1742 they moved to Frederick County, Virginia.
He was listed on the rent rolls of Frederick County in 1759.
On July 11, 1765 Lord Fairfax granted him 287 acres.
In 1779 he gave two acres to the Fawcett Gap Meeting House for the burying ground
John died on November 22, 1786.
Rebecca died on July 9, 1806.
