1927 Franklin Roosevelt **SIGNED** Legal Document
(1882 - 1945) Thirty-second President of the United States who instituted the "New Deal" programs and who led the United States through most of World War II. T.L.S. with holograph postscript on his "Roosevelt & O'Conner" legal letterhead, 1p. 4to., New York, Jan. 24, 1927 to client Julian Goldman. Roosevelt advises that his 1927 retainer fee will be $7,500, less than the previous year when he had undertaken more work for Goldman than expected for the new year. His postscript is a difficult to decipher, but apparently refers to an invitation extended to Goldman and wife, adding: "Don't forget I go South Feb. 11th - See you soon". Matted with a portrait and set into a brown wood frame. Folds, else fine. Julian Goldman grew up in an impoverished family that had escaped Russian pogroms; he became the owner of a chain of department stores and an adviser to Roosevelt.
