Civil War: Confederate slave descent through Union lines. 7/7/1863 Vicksburg Mississippi Three days after Confederate forces surrendered to the Union army under Grant, Confederates in Vicksburg were given a parole & pass. In this document Thomas a slave belonging to Lieut Thomas S.McLane, 41st GA Regiment, was given a pass to go through Union lines & join his master.
