1821 Letter Safe Passage SIGNED by President James Monroe John Quincy Adams
LETTER OF SAFE PASSAGE SIGNED BY PRESIDENT JAMES MONROE AND SECRETARY OF STATE JOHN QUINCY ADAMS. An engraved certificate in great condition with, at the top, a three masted ship and a skyline of a city (New York?) with a lighthouse in the foreground, and an embossed seal of the United States at the bottom. The Certificate of Safe Passage suffers the "Ship Louisa of New York, Christopher Smith, master... to Pass with her Company Passengers Goods and Merchandise without any hindrance seizure or molestation. It is signed by President James Monroe and Secretary of State John Quincy Adams, and dated February 10, 1821. Printed on vellum and includes JSA Certificate of Authenticity.
